Salt Union is an experienced and key supplier to British Business. As well as Vacuum salt we can offer you rock salt from our mine in Cheshire, this gives us a unique position to supply all your salt needs from Food through to De-icing salt.

Our Vacuum salt plant, at Weston Point in Cheshire, has a nameplate capacity of 1 Million tonnes, and is the only plant in the world to make Hydrosoft Granular salt via a unique process patented at this site.

We have our own Quayside on the Manchester ship canal, which gives us excellent access to overseas markets for shipping abroad. Through our worldwide sales network we are shipping regularly to over 50 countries throughout the world.

Brief History
We are proud of our salt making heritage at Weston Point, which has been the site of salt manufacture since the early1800's.
Formally known as the 'THE SALT UNION' it originally consisted of 64 separate salt companies which converged onto the present day site.
Taken over by ICI in 1935 we were the first company to build a vacuum salt plant in the UK. In 1992 we were sold as a salt only company, together with our rock salt mine in Winsford, Cheshire.
Today we are part of a truly global salt company called COMPASS MINERALS INC/USA, which makes and sells over 9 million tonnes of salt each year.
